Some people are wondering why Oprah Winfrey was being snubbed by the Academy.  However, there is one person who is not bothered at all, the media mogul herself.  Oprah Winfrey played the role of Gloria Gaines in the film, ‘The Butler.’  There are some who are expecting that Winfrey would get a nomination for the Best Supporting Actress category award.  Unfortunately, she was not nominated.  When Winfrey was asked about her comment, she said:

“Look at that category, and look who’s nominated in that category. My friend Julia [Roberts], and June [Squibb], who I don’t know, but Sally Hawkins, and Jennifer [Lawrence] and Lupita [N'Yongo]. I think that’s fantastic. I haven’t picked up the acting chops in 15 years, so to be able to be a part of a film that could get that kind of attention, that could earn that kind of audience respect that it has…I’ve been saying all along, ‘I already won.’ If anybody sees or reads anything that says I was the slightest bit upset…I had no expectation for a nomination. I really didn’t. I think I was the only person who didn’t in my group. And I just feel like, ‘wow’. What an amazing thing I got to do that. I really do.”

One of Oprah’s bestie Gayle King also has similar sentiments, she said:

“Oprah doesn’t feel she was snubbed either. When you look at all the performances everybody who was nominated is someone that deserves to be there. She doesn’t feel snubbed at all. The day the nominations came out she’s at home reading a book and playing with the dog. She’s really good..and she loves Lupita.”

Everybody looks amazing on the cover.  When each one of them was asked about the career that they want to imitate, Nyong’o said:

“Hold on. (Takes a tissue.) When I was a little girl, the first time I thought I could be an actor was when I watched The Color Purple.”

Then Winfrey replied, “Oh my God, give me a tissue.”

Nyong’o continued:

“I grew up in Kenya, and a lot of our programming was from all over the world, and we didn’t see ourselves onscreen. It was very rare that you’d see people that look like me. And there was Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah and everything. It’s so meaningful to be sitting here beside you.”

Winfrey seems to agree and replied, “It is equally meaningful for me.”

Oprah Winfrey revealed that she and Stedman Graham do not have plans of getting married even if they have been enjoying each other’s company for 27 years now.  During her interview with Shaun Robinson she was asked if she will never get married, she said, “Yes.”  Shaun asked, “Is that your final answer?” she laughed and replied:

“You’re good. You didn’t just come with no red carpet questions. That’s my final answer. I think it’s really interesting that you would ask it because I thought about it again at Tina Turner’s wedding because Tina [said], ‘Oprah, you need to do this.’ Well it took [her] until 75 to do it. Now you’re telling me I need to do it. I was just thinking, would things really be different? I don’t think so. I think my final answer is I’m gonna leave this earth as a never married woman, and that’s really okay with me. Stedman would tell you Shaun, if you ever interviewed him, he would tell you [that] had we married, we would not be together.”

Shaun asked, “Really? Why is that?”  Oprah said:

“Because he’s a traditional man and this is a very untraditional relationship. I think it’s acceptable as a relationship, but if I had the title ‘wife,’ hmmmm. I think there would be some other expectations of what a wife is and what a wife does. First of all you gotta come home sometimes.  I think it’s time for this interview to end.”

At this point, they are happy even without marriage, are they?

After Oprah Winfrey had an interview with Lindsay Lohan, the media mogul was asked if her next target would be Paula Deen.  “The Butler” responded, “I’m not a ‘get after girl.’”

Oprah said, “I don’t take offense to that. I would love to when she is ready to sit down and have a conversation about what all of this has meant to her and how it’s sort of settled with her.”

“You know, I think when you’re caught in the middle of all the media stuff it, it throws you off course and you really need to settle with yourself. Like when she did that interview on the ‘Today’ show she probably needed to wait a few days, you know, to settle down and … so when she’s ready I would love to do it.”

With regards to the dismissal of Paula Deen’s racial discrimination case, Oprah said, “I do think that makes a difference.  Yeah I mean wouldn’t it have been, we would have had a different conversation the other day if she had been charged with racially discriminating or racially affecting people in a way that is damaging to them. I think we’d be having a different conversation.”

Switzerland is now apologizing to Oprah Winfrey after the media mogul encountered a racial incident.  Last month, Winfrey went to Switzerland to attend the wedding ceremony of Tina Turner.  She visited Trois Pommes boutique and told the clerk that she wants to see the Tom Ford bag which is worth $38,000.  The expensive bag was displayed behind a glass case.

Winfrey, 59, was surprised when the clerk refused and said, “No, it’s too expensive.”  The clerk further added, “No, no, no you want to see this one because that one will cost too much. You won’t be able to afford that one.  I don’t want to hurt your feelings.”

Oprah replied, “Okay, thank you so much, you’re probably right I can’t afford it.”  Oprah revealed during an interview, “Now why does she do that?  I could have had the big blow up thing and thrown down the black card but why do that.”

On Thursday, the Swiss Tourism office tweeted, “We are fuming — this person acted terribly wrong. We are sorry this happened to @oprah!”

On the cover of the September issue of O, the Oprah Magazine, the television mogul wore a Diana Ross style hair which weighs around 3.5 pounds.  In this issue which is entitled “Let’s Talk About Hair!” Oprah tackles about the variety of issues about hair.

With regards to the afro hair, she said, “I wish I could say it was all mine. In fact, though, it’s borrowed. And it feels like carrying around an extra head.  My own hair is shorter, not quite so spherical, and a lot lighter. But that doesn’t mean it never gives me grief. When it comes to hair, I’m in the same boat as most every other woman.”

The 59-year-old television mogul said that every woman loves to talk about hair.  She said, “We love it when it looks great, we can’t stand it when it looks not so great, and we all want it to tell the world something about us.”

During a recent radio interview, Rae Dawn Chong used the n-word on Oprah.  She called her co-star in ‘Color Purple’ as ‘field n—-r.’  Later on, she explained that she was using it as a compliment.  Last June 27, the daughter of comedian Tommy Chong, used some unkind words during her interview with “Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour”.  When asked about her relationship with Oprah, the 52-year-old actress said:

“She was lovely (on ‘The Color Purple’).  It was after when I did ‘Commando’ and I was starring with Maria Shriver’s husband in the movie. That’s when she was a total b—h.”

“She is amazing. I respect her.  I think she’s done great things for women of color, women of a certain size. I think she’s an icon.”

“If you’re in a room with her she’ll pick the most powerful person and she’ll become best friends with her.  She was that fat chick that was a cheerleader or the wannabe cheerleader in school that was the student council president, that was best friends with the principal.  She was the fat chick in school that did everything and everyone loved her.”

“If you look at the way she looks – 60 years ago she would have been a housekeeper, luckily.  She would not have been a house n—-r, she would’ve been a field n—-r.”

“You gotta respect her, no matter how vile she is – because ultimately she’s all about Oprah and she’s boring.”

“This woman is a miracle, and I respect her and I say kudos to you and I don’t give two cents about the other parts of it.  She shifted the DNA in terms of our thinking of a woman of a certain size and a certain shade. I love her for that.”

After it was published, the acress quickly defended her statements by saying:

“OMG I wake up to TMZ highlighting comments I made on a radio show out of context.  I swear I did not JUST say O was a field N and I was making a point about America during slave times … and I stand behind what I said but out of context it is bad.”

“In context, I was actually complimenting Oprah.  Do I have issues with Oprah? Yes. Am I perfect? No. Do I take back everything I said? No. Am in pain that it’s caused pain to me, to her? Yes.”

What is Oprah’s reaction to this?

Forbes Magazine has recently released the world’s 100 most powerful celebrities for 2013.  The list is dominated by women including Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.  Well, it shows that girls have run the world.

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is on the top spot.  Winfrey has $77M in the bank and she is considered as the most powerful celebrity in the world.  Do you know how Forbes made the calculaton?

According to Forbes, “’fame’ is equivalent to…celebrity earnings over the last 12 months…how often each celebrity is mentioned in print and on TV, and the strength of their Internet presence and how they’re viewed by a critical constituency: American consumers.”

Beyonce and Rihanna had successful world tours and huge followers in social media that is why they landed on higher ranks on the list.  This means, it is not a guarantee that you can rank higher if you have more money.

LeBron James and Tiger Woods, who has bounced back, made it to the top 20.
