After playing the role of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in the biopic movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, Lil Mama performed alongside T-Boz and Chilli for the first time during the American Music Awards. Now, she is performing again with the group for the second time on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ last night. According to Lil Mama, it was a breathtaking performance:
“It’s a phenomenal experience. The girls tried to help me and prep me to preserve my energy and I ran out of breath. I was like, ‘I hope this doesn’t come across on TV crazy. But know it was a phenomenal experience. Their late member, Left Eye, left a legacy and passionate energy with the two of them that they created through out the years. You know they just celebrated their twentieth anniversary as well with their album 20. To be apart of what they’re doing at this time, being that it’s an important time for them, and they asked me to come on board is breathtaking. I can’t even put into words the feelings that I feel.”
Do you want her to be a permanent member of the group?

No one is too old in pursuing their own dreams. This is just what Tamar Braxton is trying to prove to us. During the Soul Train Awards, Braxton became emotional as she received an award. She actually won three awards. Tamar thanked her family and her friends then told the audience:
“I just really wanna leave you guys this note. I never thought in my life, that I would be here. And the only reason is that because I almost gave up on myself and I just wanna let you guys know. No matter want you wanna be, no matter who you wanna be, don’t give up on you. It’s possible. I’m 36-years-old and I’m proud of it…and I don’t give a damn if I was 56, she was NOT finna stop. Point blank and the period.”
Tamar also sang on the show. Congrats to Tamar! Watch out for the SOUL TRAIN AWARDS 2013 which will be shown on BET and Centric this Sunday at 8PM.
Is it possible for anyone to pursue their dreams?

After Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard and her producer Drew Scott have separated, this time another musical partners have parted ways. Solange Knowles and her producer Dev Hynes have called it quits. This week, Dev revealed their beef on Twitter by writing these subliminal tweets:
“If you wanna take shots at me text me call me talk to me in person but don’t ever drop a subliminal, talk behind my back, or send a flunky. I’m doing myself. Ain’t nothing to do with anyone else, I’m about myself, like any self respecting human should be. We live & die alone. I have beef with no one. I won’t even mention your name ever again. Any of you. I’ve said my bit. I’ve reached out. I’ve praised you. But now it’s done. It’s over. We’re done. Bye.”
Solange quickly responded to Dev’s tweets by writing:
“When you do Tumblr posts, speak about things in interviews, tweet, issues then belong to the public. I have been minding my biz. I have only ever praised you and spoken about you positively, even when our perspectives were totally different. I still support your artistry & am extremely happy for your success. I just wished you were honest about the making of my album. That’s all I’m going to say on this. You know more than anyone n—as love drama. Also u know very well I have reached out. Bless. Ps: Your phone been going straight to VM for long time.”
What can you say about their beef?

Brandy has recently expressed her desire of having her own show. According to the latest rumors it will be happening anytime soon. Brandy is already talking with Tyler Perry about her new show which is actually a spinoff of Moesha. Brandy was recently spotted with William Allen Young and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Both of them played as her parents on the show and there is a possibility that they will still be playing the same role on the new show. According to sources:
“Brandy has been talking about doing her own TV show for a while now, and everything is finally falling into place for her! She recently teamed up with Tyler Perry and is working on her own TV show slightly based off of her old show “Moesha”. We’re not sure if it will be a continuation or a completely different show, but we do now that William Allen Young and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Frank and Dee from Moesha) will be portraying her parents again in this new show. Sources say it will be more mature but will still be comedic and family orientated. Tyler is negotiating with Oprah to get it on OWN but if that doesn’t work out, BET or TBS would be a great back up.”
With a new movie, a new album and a new TV show, what could she ask for?

This includes the star of 12 Years a Slave’s Lupita Nyong’o, the actress from American Hustle, Her, Amy Adams, from the movie Saving Mr. Banks, Emma Thompson, the star of The Help, Murder, She Wrote, Octavia Spencer and finally Oprah Winfrey who is one of the stars in “The Butler”.
Everybody looks amazing on the cover. When each one of them was asked about the career that they want to imitate, Nyong’o said:
“Hold on. (Takes a tissue.) When I was a little girl, the first time I thought I could be an actor was when I watched The Color Purple.”
Then Winfrey replied, “Oh my God, give me a tissue.”
“I grew up in Kenya, and a lot of our programming was from all over the world, and we didn’t see ourselves onscreen. It was very rare that you’d see people that look like me. And there was Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah and everything. It’s so meaningful to be sitting here beside you.”
Winfrey seems to agree and replied, “It is equally meaningful for me.”
Who’s your favorite among these actresses?

It was the first time that Rihanna received her first ever “ICON” award during the American Music Awards. However, it was not about the award but it was about her hair which is in doobie wrap. A lot of people were tweeting about Rihanna’s hairstyle and wondered if this would be the next trend. Now, there is an artist’s manager who claimed that the singer stole her image, she said:
“I am writing to express my extreme frustration and anger over the blatant theft of a image that my former artist and I cultivated. A few years ago I worked with an up and coming female rapper named Patwa. She’s a Bronx born 2nd generation Jamerican who fused hip hop, reggae and culture into her music. During 2010 we began generating a buzz in the underground hip hop community. This lead to a couple of meeting with some big wigs at def jam, Geffen, Atlantic and yes Roc nation who manages Rihanna. While meeting with A&Rs with these labels we were continuously told that the imagery we were trying to brand was not “lady like” was “to street”, “to hood” and “to ghetto” we were told that “white America would never get behind such ignorance”. Ratchetness had yet to become an accepted house hold term. The image we were trying to run with was what Patwa knew from the streets which was the doobie wrap. She wore it proudly with jeweled pins to signify she was a Queen and this was her ghetto crown. Something that many females coming from where she came from could relate to. You know when you get that hair wrapped you feel like the Bomb You just got your hair did no one could tell you nothing. After putting a couple of videos up we met with a certain head honcho in roc nation who will remain nameless. We were offered what amounts to a development deal if we softened image and sound. Sticking to our guns we declined because we really believed in the look and knew with a proper push it would catch. So we left that office with our respect. Unfortunately offers started to dry up. Maybe we were too hard and middle America would never understand the doobie wrap. Eventually Patwa and I stopped working together and she returned to school and I to a less then glamorous 9 to 5. I’ve never told her but i always wondered what if we had softened up and changed that hair.”
“Fast forward to 11/24/13 and who do I see grace my flat screen while sitting in my modest one bedroom apartment wearing a doobie wrap with jeweled pins at the AMA’s. Roc nations own Ri Ri. I honestly felt violated. You see during 2011 Patwa and I crossed paths with Rihanna at a Roc Nation event. Rihanna who on that evening was wearing a hairstyle that she “borrowed” from Cassie, complimented the jeweled pin wrap said it looked nice and even inquired as to who did it? We of course were flattered out of our socks and felt almost validated. Two years later it appears middle America is ready and Rihanna really liked what she saw. By no means did we invent the doobie wrap or name. However prior to the AMA’s no one had attempted to wear the doobie as a hairstyle in public. No one!!!!!! I just find it very insulting that something we brought to those people was to “ghetto”. But now Rihanna can accept awards while proudly displaying it. I am really hurt by this and wanted to scream. But I wrote to you guys. Wanted to let someone else know that she stole that look from Patwa.”
What do you think? Is it stolen or borrowed?
